Week 2 Preview

Teams across the league have a game under their belt as GM’s try to settle into the 4th season of TCFFL.  Let’s take a look at the matchups!

Game of the Week

1. Ronald Weasels vs. 3. The Aptos Mudsharks – A huge early season Kings Division showdown between two high-powered clubs.  The ‘Sharks are anchored by a passing attack that takes second-to-none with QB Peyton Manning and start receivers Steve Smith, Andre Johnson and Ochocinco.  The Weasels have a more balanced attack with stars Chris Johnson and Miles Austin.   Key matchup: Chris Johnson vs. a tough Pittsburgh defense.

Look for an in-depth breakdown of this game later this week.

Who is For Real?

2. J Paper Think Skins vs. 6. TD’s and Beer – Both of these Hero Division teams got wins in week 1, but against competition that some deem “weak”.  The winner of this game won’t win or lose the division for these teams, but it certainly sets them up to do well this season.  Arian Foster proved to be worthy of all the preseason hype, but the question remains: can he maintain the form exhibited in week 1? Meanwhile, outside of Tom Brady, TD’s and Beers don’t seem to have a true star.  Key matchup: Tom Brady vs. NY Jet’s Defense.

Intrigue of the Week:

8. Boobies in America vs. 12. Italian ICE – Boobies were unlucky to lose in their first game after scoring 102 points while Italian ICE have vowed to not make the same bad coaching decisions that made them uncompetitive in week 1.  Both teams are confident that the first game was a fluke and are looking to get their teams back on track. Boobies in America don’t have a true fantasy stud, but are a very well-rounded, balanced attack.  Italian ICE are taking a chance with newly acquired RB Brandon Jackson and are putting all of their chips in the “potential” basket.  Key Matchup: Steven Jackson vs. Oakland’s Defense which allowed over 200 yards on the ground in week 1, albeit against Chris Johnson and Vince Young.

Upsets Potential

9. Pacific Island Boys vs. 4. Way Too Much Shirt – The ‘Boys were hurt by the loss of Ryan Grant, but with their rushing attack going against weaker defenses in week 2, we could see an upset.  However, the ‘Boys rely on the potential of their aerial attack.  Can Romo, Moss and Owens step up in week 2? ‘Shirts attack with a balanced running game.  Forte’s had a huge week and catches a lot of balls out of the backfield while Rice will surely benefit from Cincinnati’s defense after playing against a tough Jets defense in week 1.  Key Matchup: LT vs. Shonn Greene.  Yes they play on the same team, but LT looked good in week 1 while Greene didn’t.  Who gets the red zone carries will be key.

11. No Names vs. 5. Cincinnati Bow-Ties – No Names left a lot on the bench last week, playing mind games with Mudsharks GM Jason Anderson, and not starting a kicker.  With that being said, the No Names were still not the lowest scoring team.  Week 2 is a different story with the No Names fielding a whole team and starting their best players.  There is not much that needs to be said about the Bow-Ties.  They field a strong team. Key Matchup: Brees/Meachum vs. San Francisco’s defense that allowed Mike Williams to run wild.

Will Be More Interesting Than You Think Game

11.  Waseau FC vs. 7. TMNT – Waseau FC was unlucky not to get a touchdown from their best players in week 1, and that should not be the case in week 2.  Waseua FC needs to get its running game on track and will be boosted by starting oft-trageted Todd Heap. TMNT will need DeLeSean duo of Philly to have a big day against an improved Lions D.  TMNT will also need DeAngelo Willaims to get his game on track.  This game should be a close one.  Key Matchup: Carson Palmer vs. Baltimore’s tough, tough defense.
